How long will my pet be covered for?

Pet-ID Insurance Select and Select Plus plans offer true lifetime cover. If you are worried about your pet developing a long-term condition, you need to make sure you have a lifetime cover policy.

With our Select and Select Plus policies, you simply need you to renew your policy each year without a break in cover, and we will renew your veterinary fee benefit each year.

If your pet becomes ill or injured, you can claim up to £2,000 with our Select policy or £5,000 with our Select Plus policy for veterinary treatment, every year for as long as you need to claim.

How your premium may change

There are a number of factors that impact your premium, such as your pet’s age, increasing veterinary costs and advancements in veterinary medicine. These mean your premium will increase over the lifetime of your policy. However, we will not increase your premium as a direct result of any claim you make.

How your excess may change

From time to time we may increase the excess you pay in the event of a claim. Typically a 35% excess (in addition to the fixed excess) is introduced at the renewal following the 10th birthday for cats and dogs and 7th birthday for some breeds of dog. This helps us keep premiums affordable for older pets.  You will be notified at least a year in advance of any percentage excess being added to your policy.

Multi-pet discount

If you insure 2 or more pets on the same Pet-ID Insurance policy, you are entitled to a multi-pet discount of £1 per pet, per month. You can start your policy for your pets from the age of 6 weeks and up to their 10th birthday for cats, 8th birthday for dogs (5th birthday for some breeds, please contact us for details). Once insured, you can continue to renew your policy right into your pet’s old age.

Other policies are available.  Please contact us for further details.
